On December 11, residents of Samur village in Magaramkent District of Dagestan were going to hold a rally in defense of Samur forest, which, as they claim, is under threat of extinction due to irrational use of local water resources. Rally organizers had failed to apply for permission, so the police dispersed an unauthorized protest. 19 people were detained; 3 got injured in a scuffle with the police.
